Why Permanent Adhesive is the Standard

There’s more to a sticker than what you see. Sure, the material matters. The finish matters. The colors matter. But underneath it all, there’s something doing the real work: the adhesive.

Permanent adhesive is our standard option on most sticker materials, and it’s the reason your sticker actually stays where you put it. In this guide, we’ll break down what permanent adhesive really means, when to use it, and why it’s the default for most projects.

TL;DR:

  • Permanent adhesive is our standard, long-lasting adhesive for most of our materials

  • It creates a strong bond once applied

  • Best for smooth, clean, non-porous surfaces

  • Ideal for product labels, branding, and outdoor use

  • Not designed for easy removal

What “permanent” actually means

Let’s clear something up. Permanent doesn’t mean immortal. It means strong and stable. Permanent adhesive is designed to create a long-term bond that stays put once applied. It grabs onto the surface and commits.

It works best on smooth, clean, non-porous surfaces like glass, metal, plastic, and painted materials. Once it’s on, it’s not meant to be repositioned five times. And yes, removal may require effort but that’s the trade-off for durability.

Too sticky, or not sticky enough?

Permanent adhesive works for most situations. But some projects need a lighter touch, or a stronger grip. Don’t worry, we’ve got that covered too!

We also offer hi-tack and low-tack options. Hi-tack gives you an extra-strong adhesive when you need more staying power, while low-tack is made with a less sticky adhesive that’s easier to remove without leaving a mess.

When Permanent Adhesive Is the Right Choice

Choose permanent adhesive if:

  • You want your sticker to stay put for the long haul

  • It’s going outdoors

  • Durability and weather resistance matter

  • You’re labeling products, packaging, or equipment

  • You’re not planning on removing it anytime soon

Surface still matters

Even the strongest adhesive needs a good surface to work with. For the best possible bond, apply your sticker to a clean, dry surface free from dust, grease, or moisture, then press firmly into place.

And generally speaking: the smoother the surface, the better the adhesion.

Basic.. but certainly not boring!

Ask yourself one simple question.

Do I want this sticker to come off easily, or do I want it to stay put for years?

From there, the choice becomes clear:

  • Permanent adhesive for reliable, everyday long-term use

  • Low-tack for short term and easy removal

  • Hi-tack for long term durability

  • Heavy Duty for extreme conditions and maximum lifespan

But what about laminate you might ask? If durability is your top priority, glossy laminate is the safest option. If look and feel matter more and the sticker is mainly used indoors, matte laminate is a great choice.
