All aboard the Sticker Train

BRAINFART-made design for WAND Festival

Some festival merch ends up in a drawer. This one ended up all over Chur, Switzerland, and all over Instagram.

At the end of June, more than 50 street artists turned Chur into a huge open-air gallery for the very first WAND Festival. Murals, live painting, concerts, food trucks, and a Bombers Battle filled three days in 38°C heat. Festival organiser Florian "Bane" Florin wanted stickers to be part of the experience, so he came up with a sticker pack concept, and we got to print it.

A train you're allowed to paint

For the artwork, the festival brought in the Swiss street artist BRAINFART. BRAINFART drew the sticker designs and shapes, including more than ten exclusive colouring stickers, all in BRAINFART's signature style. During the festival, BRAINFART also ran the booth, selling the sticker packs, hosting a sticker workshop, and running a swap meet in the RhB Park.

The real highlight of the booth was the Sticker Train: an SBB commuter train in classic BRAINFART style, printed and waiting to be painted, legally. The individual trains stick together, so bit by bit visitors built one huge whole train full of different styles.

"Yes, you read that right: a train where stickerheads could finally leave their piece, all official. The kids especially could barely be dragged away." — BRAINFART

Sold out on night one

The sticker packs didn't last long. Some were completely sold out on the very first evening, and from there the concept kept spreading. Visitors tagged the festival in videos and stories, stuck their stickers everywhere, swapped with each other, and teamed up to find the designs they were still missing.

"Some of the sticker packs were completely sold out on the very first evening, and after that, the whole thing really took on a life of its own." — Florian "Bane" Florin, organiser of WAND Festival

Built for collecting

A good sticker pack is about more than good stickers: the mix matters too. The WAND packs were put together so that collecting and swapping was half the fun. That turned the stickers into something people talked about, traded and hunted for.

"The packs were so cleverly put together that collecting and swapping was fun, and the stickers became a real part of the festival experience." — Florian "Bane" Florin

A movement that sticks

"The very first WAND Festival in Chur was a huge success. Creative, colourful, and packed with great vibes. Knowing that the StickerApp stickers inspired so many people to join in and get creative made the experience even more rewarding. A huge thank you to StickerApp for the fantastic collaboration."
