Nestled in the heart of Malmö, Sweden, you’ll find a little slice of New York. It’s called Chef Mama, and at the center of this cozy bagel bakery is Emily Fowler, an American chef whose passion for food and people led her from the U.S. to Scandinavia and straight into the hearts (and stomachs) of her community.
We visited Emily in the bagel shop to learn more about her journey, the roots of her business, and how something as simple as a sticker has become an unexpected yet powerful part of her brand.

Chef Mama has a variety of custom die-cut stickers and labels, each with different uses, Emily explains:
"Our stickers are used for pimping everything from the shop: bagel boxes, wrapping papers, and bags, but we also hand them out to customers. A kid having a rough morning? A glittery sticker can totally turn their day around. I’ve seen it happen!"
"As for labels, we use them for all things packaging: boxes, shipping containers, you name it! Labeling, as opposed to stamping, cuts the work in half, which is huge when you’re running a busy bakery. A lot of information is required on these labels, and a clean, unified look makes all the difference."
"One of my longtime employees recently left, and I gave her a water bottle covered in Chef Mama stickers. She got so excited! It felt like I was handing her a little piece of our story to take with her", Emily says.
