Tyler Pate, the artist behind The Creative Pain, has been part of the StickerApp universe for almost a decade. When we dug up his very first order from 2016, even he was surprised. “It’s wild to think how long ago that was,” he laughed, “I’ve made a lot of stickers since then.”
Back then, The Creative Pain wasn’t a brand, not even close. It was a late night creative experiment, a tiny series he worked on after hours, more about curiosity than strategy. He explored ideas, played with illustration styles, and slowly, without forcing it, something started to form. Over time, those experiments developed into a recognizable visual identity, then a brand, then a platform for creative honesty, growth, and community. “It started purely for fun, and it has been exciting to watch it grow into what it is today,” he said.
The Unspoken Creative Burnout
What makes The Creative Pain resonate with so many is the personal story behind it. Tyler created it as a way to understand what it really means to be an artist and to name the messy parts that often go unspoken: burnout, creative block, self doubt, and the highs and lows that shape every creator’s journey. As he connected with other designers and illustrators, he realized just how universal those feelings were.
