What is the holographic effect, and how is it made on stickers?

The holographic effect comes from a special holographic material that reflects light as a shifting rainbow. You can let the effect cover the whole sticker or only parts of it, such as a logo or text.

How the holographic effect works

Holographic stickers are printed on a holographic base material. When light hits the surface, it reflects and breaks into a spectrum of colours that changes with the viewing angle. That is the rainbow effect.

How it's made

  • Your design is printed on top of the holographic material

  • Where the material is unprinted or printed with light colours, the effect shows clearly

  • Where a white layer is printed behind the artwork, the effect is blocked and the colours become opaque

Whole sticker or selected parts

You decide where the effect goes. It can cover the entire sticker or highlight selected parts, such as text, a logo or graphic elements. This gives you anything from small accents to an all-over holographic design.

Colours

Holographic works with any CMYK colour, but the effect is strongest on lighter shades. Darker colours show less of the rainbow.
