What's the difference between die-cut and kiss-cut stickers?

Die-cut stickers are cut through both the sticker and the backing, so each sticker has the exact shape of your design. Kiss-cut stickers are cut through the sticker only, so the backing stays intact around it.

Die-cut vs kiss-cut stickers

Both are cut along the shape of your design. The difference is how deep the cut goes.

Die-cut stickers

The cut goes through both the sticker material and the backing paper. Each sticker is a separate piece in the exact shape of your design.

  • Clean, custom look with no extra backing around it

  • Good when the shape of the sticker is part of the design

Kiss-cut stickers

The cut goes through the sticker material only. The backing paper stays whole, with a margin around the sticker.

  • The edge of the backing makes the sticker easy to peel

  • The backing can carry extra space around the design

  • Several kiss-cut stickers can share one backing, as on sticker sheets and singles on sheet

Which one should I choose?

Choose die-cut if you want the sticker to be its own shape. Choose kiss-cut if you want an easy peel, a backing with room around the design, or several stickers on one sheet. Our guide Die-Cut, Kiss-Cut & Through Cut Explained shows the difference with pictures.
