1998 coffee roasters
"We use custom stickers and labels - not just for decoration, but to elevate the entire 1998 universe. We now get to serve damn good coffee with style and share our story wherever we roll."
Coffee, vibes, and stickers
1998 Coffee Roasters is where specialty coffee meets retro flair. Their space is fueled by craftsmanship, culture, and connection. More than just a café, 1998 is a lifestyle brand and store, with coffee as the main form of expression, but creativity that stretches far beyond the cup. With thoughtfully sourced beans, sharp visual storytelling, and considered design, they create experiences that linger.
Their mission goes beyond great coffee. It’s about sparking moments that make people pause, smile, snap a photo, start a conversation, and maybe even take a piece of it home.
To bring that vision to life, 1998 teamed up with StickerApp. Together, we created custom stickers and labels - not just for decoration, but to elevate the entire 1998 universe. From sips to fits, coffee cart to counter talk "we get to serve damn good coffee with style and share our story wherever we roll".

StickerApp: Hi Carl and Alexandra, we're so happy about this sweet collab! Do tell: Where does the name 1998 come from and what makes 1998 stand out?
Alexandra: Thank you for this opportunity! We wanted to capture the carefree spirit of the 90s but also look forward to the 2000s and beyond. We couldn’t call it Y2K, so we went with 1998. What makes us stand out? The vibe. Everyone at 1998 has a distinct personality, and together it creates this urban, carefree energy. We don’t want to be put into a box. Through coffee, clothing, color, and fun, we express ourselves in different ways.
StickerApp: Love this! Why Malmo?
Carl: I wanted to live somewhere that felt international. At first, I was looking at Copenhagen, but it felt a bit too big and intimidating, not really the vibe I wanted. Malmo felt perfect. Some people say 1998 is an “if you know, you know” kind of place, but we try to put ourselves out there, whether it’s through events, collaborations, or just spreading the word. Locally, we’re still a bit of a hidden gem, but interestingly, we get a lot of international recognition.

StickerApp: Awesome! How did stickers become part of the 1998 universe?
Carl: It started as a fun idea! Stickers are so connected to that 90s-2000s feeling. Alexandra was sketching characters and little designs in her sketchbook, and I thought they were really cool. We made stickers out of them, and people loved them.
Alexandra: We already had lots of stickers in the shop from other roasters, so it felt natural to add our own. We used them on takeaway cups, bags, and as clothing tags.
StickerApp: What role do stickers play for you now?
Carl: They’re practical, like labeling products with prices and sizes. But they also create joy. Kids love them, and even adults light up when they get one. We keep them front and center at the counter, and people are always digging through the pile. Some even come in just to grab stickers without ordering coffee.
StickerApp: Do you feel they’ve become part of your identity?
Alexandra: Definitely! Our mint green coffee car is covered in them, our espresso machine is filled with them. We’re slowly becoming known as "the coffee place with all the stickers".

StickerApp: Any advice for others who want to start making stickers?
Carl: Have fun with it. Stickers don’t have to be perfect. Our designs are full of imperfections, but that’s part of the charm. Just start—make a small batch, see how it feels, then grow from there.
Alexandra: And remember, stickers are more than just decoration. In a world where everything is digital, they’re a tangible, analog memory. When someone takes a sticker home, puts it on their laptop or phone, they carry a little piece of us with them. That’s powerful.
StickerApp: Looking ahead, where do you see 1998 in five years?
Carl: We’ve always said we’re not just a coffee shop, not just a roastery, not just a secondhand store. We’re a brand that expresses itself through coffee. In five years, I hope we’ll be expressing ourselves even louder, reaching more people, and collaborating with more awesome folks. Stickers will definitely continue to be part of that journey.
